LETTER TO THE EDITOR - The League of Women Voters of Florida supports public policies that provide for cooperative, coordinated planning for and decisions about land use in Florida, including methods for resolving conflicts.  Therefore, the League of Women Voters of Sarasota County supports and urges a “yes” vote on the amendment dealing with land use on the May 6 ballot which would require “unanimous [not majority] Board approval to amend the comprehensive plan relating to lands outside the urban service area boundary.”  We commend the various parties coming together, for the good of the community, to reach consensus on this issue.

We also urge a “yes” vote on the amendment addressing the bond issue.  Since the money has already been allocated, it makes sense to get the projects done in today’s dollars and to create jobs for our citizens.

Cindy Guest, President, League of Women Voters of Sarasota County
